When we design a kitchen, we also consider the context where it will be installed, taking care over every tiniest detail to ensure it fits perfectly into your world. This is essential to create a unique kitchen, in harmony with space and time.
It all started with an ambitious aim. The aim of promoting Italianness worldwide, through innovative design, leading-edge technology, constant research and development and a passion for quality. Day by day, this concept acquired form in a company. A company aware of its mission: to observe, experiment and achieve something different. Something special. And so from the very beginning, innovation has played a key role, together with a vocation for “tailor-made” products, reflected in attention to details and solutions allowing a high degree of personalisation.
Its associations with prestigious designers mark out the stages in Ernestomeda’s history. Giuseppe Bavuso, Andreucci & Hoisl, Marc Sadler, Rodolfo Dordoni, Pietro Arosio, Castiglia Associati, Carlo Bartoli and Zaha Hadid, partner in the development of Z.Island, a revolutionary, futuristic kitchen. The company’s experimentation, fervid imagination and unstoppable drive led to the futuristic events with Jean Nouvel, designer of the Corian® Nouvel Lumières, a living-room with surfaces in materials that establish original dialogues in light, and with the AquiliAlberg firm, creators of Tron designs Corian®, the concept kitchen featured in the exhibition dedicated to the film Tron, in association with Disney® and DuPont™.
FIRST ITALIAN KITCHEN MANUFACTURER TO RECEIVE COVETED "100% MADE IN ITALY" CERTIFICATION
Ernestomeda is the first Italian kitchen manufacturer to receive certification of the Italian origin of its furniture issued by CATAS and COSMOB, Italy's two top wood and furniture testing laboratories, independent certification bodies which and assist Italian furniture producers in the control and verification of the products placed on the market.
The certification is based on the Italian UNI 11674 standard, introduced in 2017, which now sets the regulatory framework for the declaration of Italian origin of finished furniture.
The combination of industrial capability with atelier philosophy, in perfect keeping with the company’s strategy, led to the development of the Contract Division. In Italy, the Contract Business Department offers a package of services for the promotion of new projects and co-marketing activities with real estate developers. Ernestomeda also successfully meets the needs of the contract sector on all the various export markets, in spite of their widely different demands, competing effectively both in product customisation and in the various price bands, thanks to the breadth of its assortment. Similarly, the division that specialises in the design of galleys for Yachts, Megayachts and large pleasure craft which is proud to work with the CRN, Custom Line, Pershing, Mochi Craft and Ferretti boatbuilding yards, stars in the production of “made-to-measure” installations, specially developed for the marine sector.
For the past 60 years, the innovative Italian bathroom manufacturer Antoniolupi continues to surprise with their unconventional concepts that question existing design stereotypes. A determination to foster creativity and stretch the limits of technology underpin the success of Italian company Antoniolupi, manufacturer of bathroom fittings and furniture for the entire home. Founded over 60 years ago in Stabbia, near Florence, the proudly Tuscan brand — which makes all its high quality products in Italy — constantly invests in state-of-the-art technology and research and development to realise its uncompromisingly innovative ideas.
One of its core strengths is to challenge our preconceptions of bathroom fittings and other homeware by introducing surprising alternatives to conventional forms. Over the years, Antoniolupi has created many designs that testify to its restlessly experimental approach. One of its key hallmarks is creating intriguing illusions.
Born mid last century as a glass workshop, already in the 60’s, thanks to the founder Antonio Lupi, became an industrial reality. The factory occupied 5.000 sqm in Stabbia, small town in the province of Florence. Dedicated to the bathroom since the early days, the antoniolupi production, at that time called Cristal Lupi Luxor, immediately distinguished itself on the Italian and International market for the quality and attention to detail as well as its tailor-made production. At that time, Antonio had understood what the secret was of a product “made in Italy”: industrial dimensions to address growing markets, highly accurate artisan workmanship, highly qualified experts as well as another successful feature: orders shipped with speed, precision and accuracy…in conclusion the basics that could be defined as the company’s dna.
ANTONIOLUPI TODAY
During the second half of the 80’s the children of Antonio join the company: Andrea, Nello, Patrizia and Sergio. A decisive turning point towards design and collaboration with prestigious architects, designers as well as with young designers that rush to participate in contests organized by the company in hopes to see their ideas carried out. This is how innovative collections and icon pieces anticipate the trends of the bathroom converting it into a wellness area in the center of a modern home. The artistic world opens up and the “vascabarca” is designed. The production is enriched with mats, and furnishings and antoniolupi showrooms begin to open around the globe after the first in Milan. Shortly thereafter, a collection of fireplaces is launched and the bathroom becomes the heart of the home.

LITHEA produces cladding, flooring, accessories and indoor and outdoor furnishing. The material of choice is natural stone. From lava stone to pitchstone, from the Portoro black marble to the white Carrara stone, from the Comiso stone to the grey Tunisi stone: a collection of exquisite refined samples from the thousand year old history moulded into textures of rare beauty that cover every surface, the preamble of decoration of each ambient.
HISTORIC FAMILY COMPANY
Founded in 2008 by Patrizia Furnari and Fabio Fazio, Lithea has its roots firmly buried in the Sicilian land. Born in collaboration with the historic family company, its intention is to transfer long standing passion and the ancient knowledge of stone production techniques to an innovative design concept which thanks to sophisticated production processes and advanced technology launched a research and experimentation process that is in constant development.
STONE, AS UNIQUE AS YOUR ARE
Stone, a natural material which comes from the ground, irregular, imperfect, unique, fascinating and never two pieces alike.
STONE is known for its longevity and its history. Just consider the stone monuments that stand the test of time, those most important and sacred stone sites, those most trodden stone roads and squares, and also those stone baths, mortars, grinders and millstones that convey a fusion of long-lasting faith in the eternal and every-day life. In contrast with the elasticity of metals, stone has a strong resistance, a weighty solidity, the strength to carry the weight of the world.
STONES ARE MULTICOLOURED FRAGMENTS OF THE WORLD
LITHEA promotes the culture of design. On one hand by promoting the collaboration of industrial design with industrial perspective and techniques and controlled numerical manufacturing of blocks of material. On the other hand, Lithea takes into account the patient work carried out by its artisans who uphold the ancient techniques of production and contribute to making each product a unique piece. The desire to introduce experimentation in the use of industrial products combined with the search for creativity gives life to designer objects of the highest aesthetic quality.
LITHEA reinvents the face of the lithic material which has infinite and inadvertent varieties fully classing it as one of the contemporary materials. From its headquarters in Sicily, the company opens itself up to a worldwide distribution of its products promoting a modern vision of the use of lava stone and marble with a typical Italian flavour.

ECO-FRIENDLY DESIGN
The plant, inaugurated in 2012, with 9000 m2 ca. of covered surface area, is set in a green area looking out on the marvelous natural scenario of the mountains of the Friuli region – because at Rexa, nature is an inexhaustible source of inspiration and an “autobiographical” reference.
The attractive, well-designed facility employs eco-technologies for clean-energy manufacturing. A 1300 m2 solar-panel installation generates 206,000 kWh annually: all the energy Rexa needs for manufacturing, lighting, and climate control.
Starting with this fundamental asset, the new Rexa plant went on to develop serene, conducive work environments, ideal settings for designing ideal interiors for others. Cooperation and participative work by our people are central elements in a new way of conceiving design and enterprise: simplicity and technology are indivisible requirements for impeccable, top-quality products.
Here at Rexa, we take the time we need to create products as they should be created. First-person commitment is a primary value that requires a different kind of energy and involvement if we are to work in a truly responsible manner. The Rexa Design products are designed to enhance the essence of the bath as a space where scrupulous workmanship meets fine materials and solutions designed to ensure maximum comfort and incomparable beauty; where the pleasure of “time regained” opens a new dimension in living and a window on contemporary luxury. Iconic products, in minimalist or organic forms, well-equipped and multi-functional for welcoming, practical spaces, ambiances of ease and elegance for indulging life’s little pleasures.
AWARD-WINNING APPLIANCES
GAGGENAU is the leading brand for domestic appliances and has taken a pioneering role in innovation and design “Made in Germany”. Its success is based on technological advances and a clear design language, paired with perfect function. The company, characterized by tradition since its founding year in 1683, continually sets new standards in the private kitchen sector with its award-winning products, and its name is synonymous with exclusive culinary culture.
Inspired by the requirements of leading professionals and top chefs, Gaggenau brings professional culinary technology to the domestic kitchen. The professional kitchen principle is the foundation of the brand. Gaggenau aims to create appliances which possess the same functionality and durability, but are designed for the luxurious domestic environment. Since 1995 Gaggenau is part of the BSH Bosch and Siemens Hausgeräte GmbH group.
STORY
Gaggenau, a small village in the Murgtal Valley, at the foot of the Black Forest. It's here that the company Gaggenau is founded in 1683 as an ironworks by Margrave Ludwig Wilhelm von Baden (1655–1707). He uses the iron ore deposits in the Murgtal Valley to open up new sources of income for the impoverished farmers, thus laying the foundation for the success story of the brand. With the ongoing industrialisation, a new chapter in the story of "Eisenwerke Gaggenau AG" begins. With a still small number of factory workers, the company manufactures agricultural machinery, metalware and tools.
As a specialist in enamel, Gaggenau produces advertising signs for brands such as Odol, Maggi and Stollwerck. The recipe for the company's robust oven enamel forms the basis for the success of its coal and gas-fired stoves, which continue to be manufactured until well into the 20th century. The product range adapts to the new century. Gaggenau takes on a pioneering role with a range of innovative products, including coal and gas-fired stoves, but also bicycles. When Dr. Otto von Blanquet takes over the reins, the company shifts its focus to coal and gas-fired stoves and produces its first electric stoves, making cooking safer and more convenient.
GAGGENAU ENAMEL
Gaggenau had plenty of time to build up a very special expertise: With initial production of enamelled signs, we acquired valuable skills for the production of our enamelled ovens. Today, the typical blue Gaggenau enamel is a recognised brand and quality mark - and its recipe is a closely guarded trade secret. Glass plates, oxides and chemical additives are ground, mixed to a secret recipe and sprayed in a particularly thick layer on the oven. This special blend not only allows the inside of our ovens to glow the typical Gaggenau blue, but also enables pyrolysis, or automatic self-cleaning. Stubborn stains can be removed easily.
MAIN DESIGN PRINCIPLES
Challenging the established, breaking the mould, when and where this makes sense, in order to pave the way for new innovative ideas - this notion of the avant-garde is discernible with all our appliances. And it is the basis for our four main design principles that apply to all appliances: They are authentic, sculptural, present and generous.
Our appliances are authentic and present in every detail. Authentic in the choice of materials, present in their design language. We only use materials that are aesthetic and durable: Stainless steel, aluminium, brass, cast iron, enamel and glass. Each appliance thus gets a completely unique feel. And impresses with designs that correspond precisely to its character. Sophisticated product design always considers the effect of the appliance in the room. A factor that is more important than ever today, as kitchens are increasingly becoming the centre of the home architecturally also. Our design language transforms appliances into sculptural objects, lending our products an incisive generosity.
LAVA STONE SURFACES
nerosicilia presents lava stone surfaces reflecting the techno-physical potential of the material itself. Nature itself confers to the lava different “appearances” and nerosicilia wished to interpret them. The source of inspiration is the very own fire from the volcano. Depending on where the magma is coming from, it gives life to different properties which are reflected in the material hence determining the surface. By tracking back the process of fusion of the material hidden behind an inventory of formulas, fusion curves, ages, temperatures and other “alchemies”, nerosicilia is returning to us the lava stone from the Etna in its different “appearances”. laNera, laRoccia, the enneUno, the enneDue and the enneTre; without forgetting the natural lava stone, laGrigia, as it is traditionally worked using various mechanical finishes (honed, polished, bush-hammered, sandblasted).
SPECIAL COLLECTIONS
Nero Scilia has entered into partnerships with special collections and coverings in collaboration with some major brands of interior design. Some of the partnerships include: Boffi - Boffi Salinas by Patricia Urquiola, B&B Italia, IRicami special series for B&B Italia, Paola Lenti, The technicolor lava stone by Paola Lenti, Cappellini Cappellini gives form to the primordial nature.
